La Plata Blue Knights is a wonderful organization for children ages 5-13. We typically begin practices in August and play until November. Our home field is at Milton Somers Middle School. LPBK teaches kids teamwork, good sportsmanship and how to have fun. Come out and be a part of La Plata PRIDE. We are part of the Charles County Youth Tackle Football and Cheerleading Program.

The SYB Optimist of Lusby youth football & cheerleading program known as the "PANTHERS" serves approximately 200 boys and girls in and around our community ranging from 5 to14 years of age. We offer a pee-wee football program for the 5 to 6 year olds, which is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of football. This program emphasizes fun and sportsmanship. We begin early at age 7 through 14 years of age teaching foundational skills such as the blocking and tackling techniques. We also offer a cheerleading program for youth’s ages 5 to 14 which promote team building, builds self esteem, while learning cheers and routines for the sidelines as well as competition. Previous playing experience is not required, in fact we encourage youngsters with no experience to come out and give it a try, you never no who will be the next Troy Aikman or Dan Maurino!

Established in 2006, this league is the first all unlimited weighted league in this region. The unique aspect of an unlimited weight league is that our kids will not be excluded from playing football because of their weight. While we are highly supportive of youth fitness, we do not feel that children should be subjected to extreme weight loss in order to participate in an athletic activity. We feel that the activity itself is part of a healthy lifestyle for a child.

The Southern Maryland Youth Association (SMYA) Hawks is for the benefit of the youth in the Charles County community and operates as a non-profit 501(c)3 entity within the Charles County Youth Football League (CCYFL). Our objectives as coaches, administrators, and volunteers are to teach children the fundamentals of football and the art of cheerleading while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, physical fitness, and character for use on & off the field in a fun and safe environment. Aside from teaching and promoting athleticism and good sportsmanship, the SMYA program strongly emphasizes education and preparing each participant for the next level of competition and lifes challenges.

Our football coaches are experienced, knowledgeable and proven, as well as certified through USA Football, and our cheerleading coaches come from all-star competitive cheer programs and are safety certified through the American Association of Cheer Coaches and Administrators (AACCA).
