The St. Mary's Animal Welfare League is a nonprofit, rescue organization that specializes in the rescue, care and placement of abused, neglected and homeless companion animals. Our animals are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and receive medical treatment before being placed in carefully selected homes. We strive to educate the community in areas of humane education and responsible pet ownership, as well as helping to control the pet overpopulation in our area by promoting the spaying and neutering of all companion animals. The St. Mary's Animal Welfare League has come a long way in just a few years. We were established as a non-profit organization in 1990 by a band of dedicated animal lovers and have continued our original mission of educating the public on the benefits of spaying and neutering. Most recently The Snowflake Society was established as a division of SMAWL dedicated to the well being of horses and other hoofed animals in need. SMAWL continues to serve the community by providing a Low Cost Rabies Clinic, as well as a Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program. We welcome any volunteers who would like to join us in our work for the animals.

Throwaways Rescue Foundation, Ltd. (TRF) is a nonprofit operating out of Waldorf, MD whose main purpose is to facilitate increasing the quality of life of our domestic animal population by providing education, medical services, and providing an improved habitat for them. Under this we provide shelter, food and medical care for over 100 cats in and around Waldorf and provide a full management plan in which stray and feral cats living in Maryland, Virginia and DC are humanely trapped, evaluated, vaccinated and sterilized. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats are returned whenever possible to familiar habitat under the life long care of volunteers.100% of all funding to Throwaways is used directly for the animals and is not used for administrative costs. Please come see us at the PETCO in Waldorf on Sundays or call us at 301 885 0025. We desperately need volunteers to help us with our mission.
