In Southern Maryland, more than 1,200 young people participate each day in Boys & Girls Club programs. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland provides a safe place for these youth to build their strengths and use them as a foundation for their future. Without the club these youth are more likely to turn to streets, gangs, drugs, and crime simply because they have no other role models to turn to. That's why the Boys & Girls Clubs are more important than ever, and that's why we're doing so much more.

The Calvert Crusade for Children (CCC) is a catalyst, advocacy, and networking organization. It focuses its energies on increasing volunteer and financial resources dedicated to programs for children and youth, and on building community awareness of youth issues. It supports efforts of many outstanding child and family organizations. CCC is the local organization designated by the County Commissioners to spearhead General Colin L. Powell's America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth in Calvert County. America's Promise calls for families and communities to come together to give all children the support they need to succeed - the presence of responsible, caring loving adults; safe places in which to learn and grow; a healthy start to a healthy future; marketable skills in today's highly competitive, information-based economy; and opportunities to give back to their communities.

EMS Explorer Post 60 is sponsored by the Charles County Mobile Intensive Care Unit (CCMICU) in White Plains, Maryland, and is part of the Western Shore District, National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Our goals are to connect youth to the community by helping them learn the skills needed during emergencies or disasters, such as first aid and emergency communication. Explorers help guide the program structure by identifying community organizations and activities that interest them. Leadership and teamwork are natural parts of this process.

EMS Explorer Post 60 is open to youth and young adults aged 14-20 who have completed 8th grade. No prospective participant shall be disqualified because of race, color, creed, or sex. All participants must be enrolled as Explorers and agree to the Post bylaws. Post 60 generally meets on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month, 4-6pm, with outings and activities scheduled outside of regular meetings.

The goal of the Maryland High School Rodeo Association (MDHSRA) is to promote the sport of rodeo and preserve our western heritage. High school rodeo fosters relationships among people interested in rodeo and agriculture by promoting family involvement, a commitment to animal welfare and a sense of community among its membership. Additionally, the MDHSRA supports our member's educational efforts through scholarship programs and maintaining academic standards for participants. The National High School Rodeo Association is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to the development of sportsmanship, horsemanship and character in the youth of our country through the sport of rodeo. Created by Texas educator and rodeo contestant Claude Mullins, the NHSRA held its first finals in Hallettsville, Texas, Aug. 25-27, 1949. The NHSRA membership consists of over 12,500 members from 42 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia.
