Air Expo '05 takes off Sept. 3 and 4 at PAXRVR


PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR STATION, MD-Past favorites and debut performers will be joining together at Air Expo '05, NAS Patuxent River's celebration of flight, Sept. 3 and 4. The Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, headline the show.

The Blue Angels will awe Air Expo '05 guests with graceful, high-precision maneuvers of the four-plane "diamond" and fast-paced high performance maneuvers of the solo pilots in the number five and six jets. All six jets will then perform together in the renowned delta formation.

Also headlining the show will be the Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, and the A-10 East Coast Demonstration Team. Civilian performers include aerobatic pilot Patty Wagstaff in her Extra 300S, Dan Buchanan in his motorless Airwave glider, Dale Snodgrass in his F-86 Sabre, Eric Beard in his Yak 54, "Russian Thunder," Paul Stender is his RamJet Dodge Jet Truck, the Yak Demonstration Team, Red Eagle Air Sports, the Skytypers and Rag Wings and Radials Vintage Aircraft.

Past will meet present and future with the static displays at Air Expo '05. Displays will include historical aircraft retired from service and current models and variants being used by warfighters today.

Parking and admission for Air Expo '05 are free. Gates open at 9 a.m. The flying portion of the show begins at 11:30 a.m. and will run until approximately 4 p.m.

No weapons or explosives, coolers, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, pets, bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, scooters or backpacks are permitted on the show site. Vehicles, diaper bags, camera bags and cameras will be searched. Please do not load film into cameras before entering the show site.

NAS Patuxent River is located in the Washington region and reports to Naval District Washington for Shore Installation Management.

Those who have Department of Defense identification cards and DoD automobile decals, or DoD identification cards only, enter the air station through Gate 1.
