The only place I've visited in Maryland is Baltimore.
I attended a technical conference in the inner harbor area. Great
place. The reason I'm visiting this web site is to track my heritage.
My great-great grandfather, Robert Gates, was born in Port Tobacco on
March 17, 1817 (father: James, Mother: Christine Mumford Gates, married
Oct. 20, 1847). He had 10 brothers & sisters. Not much more is known
about him other than he left to "go west" when he was about 20. Hope to
visit Port Tobacco someday soon.

My sister, Bev Jeffas, told me about this site. It's neat to see what's going on in her and Tim's corner of the world.

I am a lifelong resident and I just want to let the folks from PA, Crystal City, VA and Trenton that NOT EVERYONE feels like those sad people who have been writing into the Enterprise. I am glad and many of my family and friends are quite pleased that you are here. We can only get better in many ways - the technology is improving the education our children are getting. The expanded tax base will improve roads and services (slow but eventually). So not all of us are bad. We hope you meet keep looking for the best that St. Mary's has to offer. It's a jewel but it's like a buried treasure - sometimes you have to hunt for it. God Bless.

It is sad that southern Maryland on-line does not list great web sites that are run by southern maryland business's and individuals. Promotion of national sites are fine but why can't somd show some of the other valuable local web resources.

I would like to thank everyone for all your support and prayers for my daughter Veronica. She is now on her way to a full recovery after her liver transplant in Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Southern Maryland on line gave us the way of letting Veronica's friends at home know how she was doing. Thank You, Southern Maryland on line.
