The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society (CCAS), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was formed in 1996 to provide an opportunity for residents of Charles County and Southern Maryland to sing and perform complex choral compositions. Members are selected through auditions and pay an annual membership fee. High school and college students of great musical promise are invited to participate with CCAS as scholarship students. Currently 40 members comprise the Society. New voices are always welcome. For information or to schedule an audition, please contact us.
Chesapeake Choral Arts Society is supported in part by grants from the Charles County Arts Alliance, Maryland State Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, donations, and membership fees.

The Southern Maryland Concert Band was formed in 1984 as an all-volunteer, non-profit, community-based ensemble of adult and student instrumentalists dedicated to performing quality concert band music for audiences in Southern Maryland. Based in Charles County since its inception, the SMCB has performed many formal and community concerts over the years. The SMCB is the only community-based instrumental ensemble dedicated to providing quality, yet affordable music to families in Southern Maryland. Each year, the SMCB presents at least three formal concerts throughout Southern Maryland. The St. Charles String Quartet presents classical chamber music concerts in the Southern Maryland and Washington, DC region. It originated as a group of musicians performing small recitals in St. Charles located in Charles County. Concert locations are at Christ Church (La Plata), area churches (Waldorf), and Lee District Park Amphitheater (Franconia, VA).Our repertoire includes quartets by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Ravel, Borodin, Dvorak and Shostakovich. St. Maries Musica, a high-spirited troupe of vocalists from Southern Maryland directed by Stanley "Joey" Hoopengardner.St. Maries Musica was formed in 1971 when a group of neighbors in Southern Maryland got together to share their love of madrigal music and formed the Madrigal Choral Ensemble. As the name and costumes suggest, St. Maries Musica specializes in madrigals and other historic choral styles.
The group has performed in such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center and the Old Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C.
