Irene Coates Mahoney of La Plata, Maryland, died on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in La Plata. She was 96 years old. Born on May 22, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Anne L. Clark and the late John Coates. Mrs. Mahoney was a homemaker and mom.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Vincent Mahoney.

Visitation on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12Noon at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Chapel Point, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677. Interment to follow in the church cemetery next to her husband.
