Wheeler II, William Arthur (Age 57) of La Plata, Maryland. Peacefully passed on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. William was affectionately known as "Mickey".

Son of William A. Wheeler and Annie G. Hawkins Wheeler (deceased), Mickey was one of six children.

William grew up in Charles County and graduated from Lackey High School in 1975. After high school he held a position as a mechanic for the State Highway Administration in La Plata, MD. You could find his head under the hood of an automobile anytime of the day or night. He was also known to be a race car enthusiast, winning scheduled races on the weekends at the local racetrack.

William leaves to cherish his memory his son, William C. Wheeler (Denesia), former wife, Doris Lancaster, father, William A. Wheeler, brothers, Charles P. Smoot, Robert P. Wheeler (Shelly), sisters, Patricia Smoot, Shelva B. Redd (Reginald), Velma M. Barnes, Lisa J. Wheeler, nephews, Davon Andrews, Marcus Barnes and Trevor Proctor, nieces, Reema Wheeler , Deidre Wheeler and Jennifer Redd, seven grandchildren, Demetrius, Dejshawna, Diamond, Daria, Alijah, Ayanna, Cierra and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing 9 a.m. until time of Service, 11 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland.
