Joan Rose Vogelson, 99, of Waldorf, MD died Friday, August 1, 2014 at her home. Born February 23, 1915 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late John Quill and Rose Rowan.

Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose life was surrounded by family and lifelong friends. She had a passion for gardening and quilt making.

She was employed by the Federal Government for 25 years, ending her career in 1977 at the Census Bureau.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth Vogelson, brothers Robert and Rowan Quill and sister Elizabeth Egan.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Legal, son in-law David Legal, grandsons Christopher Stone and Degas Legal and all of Waldorf, MD.

Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646. There will be a private Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
