Bette Irene (Carpenter) Feeley Stiles, 87, of Mechanicsville, MD, died July 29, 2014 at Hospice House of St. Mary's in Callaway, MD. She was born in Barnesville, Ohio on May 14, 1927, daughter of Arthur and Alberta (Wood) Carpenter.

She moved to Washington, D.C after WWII to work as a bookkeeper. Bette was blessed to be married twice to gentle, loving men who cherished her. She was married to John D. Feeley for more than 25 years, living in Riverdale and Beltsville, MD. Several years after his death, she married William J. Stiles of Laurel, MD and they celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2007.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her eight children and stepchildren, 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren who cherish her memory. She took great pride in her family and her home. Bette loved to sew and read and was an avid gardener, known for her beautiful flower and rose garden at her home in Maryland City. She worked in the U. of Maryland Bursar's Office for more than a decade before retiring in 1984 to enjoy her family, home and garden and to travel.

Bette is survived by daughters April (Francis) Mazzeo of Northridge, CA; Deborah (Charles) Shirley of Mechanicsville, MD; son John (Linda) Feeley of Bowie, MD; daughters Christine (Mark) Johnson of Valley Center, CA; and Elizabeth (Eric) Coon of Laurel, MD; stepdaughter Gail (John) Myszka of Snow Hill, MD and by her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands John Feeley and William Stiles, stepdaughter Joan (Sherman) Domfort and stepson Lee Roy (Marilyn) Stiles.

Service at Cheltenham Veterans Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on August 14, 2014. Interment at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
