![]() Viola Elizabeth (Shorter) Hill, 96, of Rock Point, MD died on July 23, 2014 in Leonardtown, MD. She was born in Issue, MD on May 22, 1918 to the late Thomas A. and Lillian C. Shorter. She is also predeceased by her husband James E. Hill, Sr., son Richard A. Hill, daughter-in-law Mary E. Hill, brothers; Thomas Shorter, Jr., and Donald Shorter, sisters; Mildred Blacklock, Mable Rollins, and Helen Lancaster.
She is survived by her daughter Agnes M. Wolfe (Bob), sons; James E. Hill, Jr. (Marilee), James M. Hill (Mary), Henry L. Hill, Edward Hill (Cheryl), Dennis M. Hill (Valerie), and Gary Hill. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Viola married James Hill, Sr. in February 1936 and lived her entire married life in Rock Point, MD. She is a member of the Holy Ghost Church and was very active in the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Sodality. She was also an active supporter of the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Dept. and EMS and a member of the Democratic club. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and her extended family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 29, 2014 from 9 to 11 AM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata, MD. and then from 12 until Mass time at 1 PM at the Holy Ghost Church Issue, MD. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandson's; James Hill, Donnie Hill, Robbie Wolfe, James Hill, Johnnie Hill, Brian Hill and Roger Hill. Honorary Pallbearers will be the remainder of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Dept. and EMS, P.O.
