Loving and devoted husband to Janelle (Menefee) Showalter, loving father to Michael Showalter and loving Grandfather to Amanda Grace Showalter.

He leaves his brothers Frank, Steve and Gary Showalter and sisters Jeannie Martin and Cindy Porter as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Dale died after a year long battle with cancer. He fought that disease until the very end.

He was a retired Certified Elevator Inspector for the US General Services Administration. He had inspected Federal Buildings including the Pentagon, Federal Memorials and Monuments including the Washington Monument, and various other federally owned buildings thru out Washington, Maryland and Virginia. Dale received a Humanitarian Award from the US Senate/House for his heroic efforts in performing CPR on another Federal Employee.

Dale had a love of music, his guitars and his garden.

He was the Calvert County Senior Idol in 2013 and performed in the Maryland State Senior Idol Competition. He was also the Calvert County runner up in 2012 and performed in the Maryland State Senior Idol Competition that year as well.

Dale donated his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board for research so that he could help others learn from him.

A private memorial is being planned.
