Francis Geroe Cecil, Jr., 79, of Hughesville, MD formerly from Leonardtown, MD passed away at his residence. Born on July 5, 1934 in Leonardtown, MD, as the oldest twin of the late Alma Marie Cecil and Francis Geroe Cecil, Sr.

Francis was the loving husband of Frances Deloris Cecil whom he married on April 6, 1991 in Leonardtown, MD, they had been together for over 35 years, which included 23 years of marriage.

Francis is survived by his step children: Deborah Mattingly and Richard Tracy Guy of Hughesville, MD, Frances Ryder (John) and John "Jay" Guy (Wendy) both of Mechanicsville, MD, Stephen Guy of Hollywood, MD, Lisa Chrismond ( (Kenneth) of Fort Myers, FL., grandchildren: Kristy Tennyson, Jessica Nelson (Scott), Deanna Tennyson, Lee Guy (Laura), Lauren Tennyson, Justin Guy, Nicole Kosky (Michael), Thomas Agostinelli, Tiffany Agostinelli, Kelsey Mattingly, Jordan Guy, Laurie Ryder, and Christy Ryder. Great Grandchildren: Abigail and Ellie Mae Nelson, and sister Barbara Lawrence of Leonardtown, MD.

Francis was preceded in death by his siblings: Margaret (Peggy) Hall and Walter Cecil.

He attended Margret Brent High School, and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, MD. Francis retired with 27 years as a Federal Civilian Servant from the U.S. Air Force- Andrew's Air Force Base on December 1994.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church Leonardtown, MD with Father Rory Conely officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be: Lee Guy, Michael Kosky, Jordan Guy, Justin Guy, Gregory Lawrence, and John Lawrence.
