Joseph Cataldus Posey, a lifelong resident of Bryantown, MD, died May 18, 2014 at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes. He was born February 27, 1924, the son of Reed Augustine Posey and Mary Teresa Bowling Posey. He was single and 90 years old. Joe graduated from Notre Dame High School, Bryantown, MD, and was a self-employed, lifelong farmer.

Joe enjoyed hunting, attending local and professional baseball games, good meals, and most of all spending time with his family and friends on the front porch. This was especially true after all had spent a hard day working in the tobacco fields. Two of his favorite days of the year were Christmas and Easter when his and the extended families of his sisters would all gather at the farm for dinner and socializing.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Reed Augustine Posey, Jr. and his sisters Elizabeth Queen Farrall, Teresa Posey, Francis Marguerite Jones, and Mary Ruth Turner Rawlett.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 4-8 PM with Prayers at 7 PM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown, MD. Interment will be at the Church cemetery. Pall bearers will be Richard Farrall, Joseph Farrall, Robert Jones, Michael Jones, William Turner and Benjamin Turner.
