Richard Carlton Day, 74, of Tall Timbers, MD, passed away on May 5, 2014 at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital.

Richard was born in Tacoma Park, MD and resided in College Park, MD until moving to Tall Timbers in 1972. He served in the US Navy, and attended the University of Maryland. Richard worked for the Xerox Corporation for 32 years as a Technical Services Representative until his retirement in 1997.

Richard was an engaging individual, whose friendship and silent strength was valued by his family and friends. A talented craftsmen and artist, Richard built his first boat in 1978. An avid watermen and duck hunter, Richard earned his captain's license and chartered fishing trips on the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. He spent years handcrafting duck decoys and waterfowl carvings and was a recognized artist by Ducks Unlimited. After his retirement, he continued his hobbies, spent time enjoying his family and friends and pursued a passion for classic cars, his being a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air.

Richard was the son of the late Carlton Day and the late Elizabeth Belbin Day.

He is survived by his wife Joan Toni, his sister, Pamela Driscoll, his three sons, Richard (Jami), Patrick (Kelly) and Preston, and grandchildren, Laura, Grant, Abigail and Ashley. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Day.

Family will receive friends and extended family for Richard's Life Celebration on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
