Helmuth Max Erxleben, 83, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on April 24, 2014 at Hospice House of St. Mary's in Callaway, MD. He was born on July 16, 1930 in New Braunfels, TX to the late Helmuth M. Erxleben and the late Alma Glenawinkle Sachsenmeyer.

Mack served honorably as a boiler mechanic in the U.S. Coast Guard in both Active and Reserve status. Following his military service, he was an employee at PEPCO for 42 years. After retiring, Mack started and ran his own locksmith business.

More than anything else, Mack loved spending time with Bertie, his best friend and wife of 63 years.

In addition to his parents, Helmuth was predeceased by his son, James Erxleben in October 1985.

Helmuth is survived by his wife, Bertha Madeline Erxleben; son, David Erxleben (Jeannie); daughters, Katherine McDonald (Roger) and Susan Money (Bobby); 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends for Helmuth's Life Celebration on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers beginning at 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, MD. Interment will follow to Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735.

Pallbearers will be Steven Erxleben, Daniel Erxleben, Brian Erxleben, Thomas Ricker IV, Joseph Stewart, Bobby Money, and Roger McDonald.
