Laura Morgan Smith of La Plata, MD died on April 19, 2014 at the Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf, MD. She was 74 years old.

Laura was technical writer/editor for the Department of the Navy (Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, MD) for 27 years. She loved her time as a member of Sacred Heart Church Choir and her time with the Port Tobacco Players. Her favorite pastime outside of visiting family and friends was her cherished part-time antiques business she shared with her husband.

She is the daughter of the late Hillen Jerome Morgan and the late Laura Stevens Rees Morgan. She is also predeceased by her brother, John Morgan.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David H. Smith; two sons, Steven Hudson and Gregory Smith; two daughters, Melody (Hudson) Berry and Tara (Hudson) Meadows; two brothers, Hillen Morgan, Jr. and James Morgan; and one sister, Janet Morgan. Also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Friends received on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5-8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10AM at the St. Mary's Newport Catholic Church in Charlotte Hall, MD. Interment in the church cemetery.
