Richard Cecil Stewart of Pomfret, Maryland died on March 12, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Washington, DC. He was 77 years old. Born on July 24, 1936 in Union, Oregon he was the son of the late Pauline Edwards and the late Claude Cecil Stewart.

Mr. Stewart served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. While in the Army, he served three tours and was a Paratrooper Instructor. At the time of his Honorable Discharge, Mr. Stewart had achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Stewart worked for UPS for 43 years and was a supervisor.

He was a Master Mason Third Degree and a brother of the St. Columba Lodge, a member and former Governor of the Waldorf Moose Lodge, a member of the Shriners International, a member of the Waldorf Elks Lodge, a member of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, and a member of the DC Ramblers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Gwen Stewart.

He is survived by his daughters Gail Hein and Gina Shreeves; his son Michael L. Stewart; his sister Shirley Harthun; his brother Robert Stewart; his grandchildren Angie Gray, Becky Wright, John Hein Jr., Kelly Smith, Ricky Vermillion and Kristen Stewart; his great-grandchildren Connor Gray and Christian Gray.

Visitation on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 10AM until time of service at 12Noon at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
