Edward (Eddie) Gene Blankenship, Sr.,77, of Waldorf, MD died March 4, 2014, in La Plata, MD. Born Nov. 19, 1936, in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence A. Blankenship and the late Ruth Blankenship.

He was a veteran of the 3rd Armed Division.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Blankenship.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Lee Blankenship; his children and their spouses, Mary Ida and Robert Stephens, III, Edward Jr. and Sharon, James and Vicki, Patrick and Vivian Blankenship; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-4PM and 6-8PM, Friday, March 7, 2014, at Huntt Funeral Home, Waldorf, MD. A service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church in Pomfret, MD. Pallbearers will be his seven grandsons.
