![]() Benjamin Letcher Bowling, "Buddy", 79, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away on March 3, 2014.
He was born on September 22, 1934 in Newport, MD to the late Benjamin Tyler Bowling and the late Lessie Gertrude Swann. Benjamin served his country in the United States Army for two years of active duty when he was drafted in April, 1957. He received an Honorable Discharge in April 1963. Benjamin worked as a dispatcher for a number of years. He retired from Chaney Enterprises in 1999. He loved watching football and baseball on television. He also enjoyed farming and raising a garden. In his younger years he enjoyed going to card parties and hunting on the family farm. He truly enjoyed the many crab feasts shared with family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Sandra. Benjamin is survived by his wife, Helen Williams Bowling, whom he married on March 4, 1956; his sons, Benjamin R. "Ricky" Bowling (Ex-Wife Jackie), Scott W. Bowling (Mary), his daughter, Sandra Lynne Bowling, his brothers, Edwin W. Bowling (Muriel), Calvin L. Bowling (Pat), sisters, Jean E. Barbour (Pete), Patricia Wyant (Fred), grandchildren, Joseph Tyler Bowling, Jill Marie Bowling and Benjamin Austin Bowling. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Family and friends will be received for Benjamin's Life Celebration on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, with Prayers at 7pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 9560 Trinity Church Road (Route 232) Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 (Newport). Interment will be at St. Mary's Church 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spring Dell Center, 6040 Radio Station Road, La Plata, MD 20646 or to the Hospice of Charles County, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.
