Grace Catherine "Gracie" Scott, 97, of Bushwood, MD formerly of Abell, MD died September 22, 2006 in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD. Born February 25, 1909 in Palmers, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph Walter and Mary Elizabeth Morris Mattingly.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband James Clyde Mattingly whom she married in 1925 in Avenue, MD and her 2nd husband Harold Alfred Scott whom she married in 1956 in VA.

She is survived by her daughter: Catherine Downs-Binger of LaPlata, MD; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Ethel Boley, Martha Ellen Owens, Benjamin Mattingly, Elsie Roberts and William Mattingly.

She worked as the Superintendent of Arcade Laundry in Washington, DC for 20 years until her retirement in 1956.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24, 2006 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Monday, September 25, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Ron Marshall, Bob Sanders, Ian Goetchios, Wade Christian, Jason and Nathan Pyle.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Joseph Suite, John Kuntz and Shawn Kimberly.
