![]() Vivian Bounds Edelen, 96, of Bryantown, MD died at Hospice House of Charles County on Wednesday, February 19. Mrs. Edelen was born July 28, 1917 in Princess Anne, MD to Floyd Solon Bounds and LuLu Folsom German.
She graduated with a BS teaching degree from Salisbury State Teachers College. She taught for four years at Surrattsville Elementary School in Clinton. She also worked at Hughesville Tobacco Warehouse for many years as cashier. Her main hobby was genealogical research. She was a member of the DAR, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and many historical societies. Edward Benjamin Edelen and Vivian Loraine Bounds were married on December 6, 1941 in Washington, D.C. They had two girls and one boy. They were married for 54 years before her husband's death. She was predeceased by her older brother, Floyd Bounds. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Boone and her husband Charles D. Boone; Nancy Bryans and her husband Dr. William A. Bryans IV; and her son, Ned Edelen, brother, Lee Bounds, of Chapel Hill, NC., She also had one stepsister and two stepbrothers. She had five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren plus many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Eric Bauer, Charlie Boone, Ben Edelen, Randy Slattery, Mike Weber, and Rob Whittredge. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Bryans, Doug Bowling, Al Butler, Bill Edelen, Mike Gethin, Clarke Magruder, George Owens, and Pat Turner. Family will receive friends for Vivian's Life Celebration Visitation on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with prayers at 7pm at The Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Mary's Bryantown Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617, with Father Conley officiating.
