![]() John Dunlap Freeman, 85, of Leonardtown, MD passed away on January 12, 2014 in St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born on January 12, 1929 in Clements, MD he was the loving son of the late William C. and Kate Rebbecca McAdams.
John was the loving husband of Marie Freeman whom he married on February 15, 1947 in Leonardtown, MD. John is survived by his children; Karen Cook of Belair, MD, Ellen McDonald of CA, Rosalea Arnold of Mechanicsville, MD, Melody Jackson of Lexington Park, MD, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Siblings; Julia Melton of AK, Ann North, of FL and Veronica "Vickie" Trego of Annapolis, MD. He was preceded in death by his daughters; Ann "Bobby" Hilderbrand and Gayle Edens, siblings; Bishop Thompson, Clarence "Whitey" Thompson and George Alfred Thompson, Joseph Thompson, and Elmer "Chick" Thompson. John graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1945 and moved to Washington, DC in 1950 to work for Thompson Honor Dairy after 21 years, He moved back to St. Mary's County, MD and bought a truck and traveled nationwide transporting mobile homes. He retired in 1995 after 50 years. John raised Beagles, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bushwood, MD with Father Charles Cortinovis officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers; Ryan Cook, Stephen Arnold, Jr. Rick Arnold, Johnny Hilderbrand, and Keith Hilderbrand.
