Helen Shorter Lancaster, 101, of Rock Point, MD died on January 12, 2014 at her daughter's and son-in-law's home at Rock Point.

Helen was born on November 15, 1912 in Tompkinsville, MD to the late Thomas A. and Lillian C. Shorter. She is also predeceased by her husband Charles C. Lancaster, Sr.; brothers Thomas A. Shorter, Jr. and J. Donald Shorter; sisters Mildred Blacklock and Mabel Rollins.

She is survived by her sons; Charles C. Lancaster, Jr. (Candida), Thomas I. Lancaster (Emma) and Frank H. Lancaster (Marie), daughter; Joan L. Bowling (Samuel), sister; Viola E. Hill. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen retired from the United States Postal Service as the Postmaster of the Rock Point Post Office.

She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church were she was a member of the Ladies of Charity. She enjoyed her family, home, gardening, needlework and helping others.

The family will receive friends on Thursday January 16, 2014 from 10 to 11 Am at the Holy Ghost Church, Issue, MD were a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
