Carol Ann Grigsby, 68, of California, MD, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 5, 2014, at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. She was born March 21, 1945 in Washington D.C. to the late Samuel R. Ball and Alice Jones Ball.

On February 12, 1962, Carol married her beloved husband, Wayne W. Grigsby in Washington D.C. Together they celebrated 51 wonderful years of marriage.

She was employed as a legal secretary at Myers Billingsley Shipley until her retirement in 2000.

Carol was dedicated to her family. She always put family first, taking great pride in spending as much time as possible with them. This included being the daily taxi service for all her children's sports events. She was always their biggest cheerleader.

She also enjoyed going to the beach, dancing and bowling. She was an avid reader and loved to play spider solitaire. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making great meals for her friends and family. She was a member of the Allentown Boys and Girls Club, Friendly High School Booster Club, DC Hand Dancers, and the Lunch Bunch.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Wayne W. Grigsby, Jr. (Cynthia) of Hollywood, MD; Michael R. Grigsby, Sr. (Lisa) of Edgewater, MD; and Michele A. Snyder of Leonardtown, MD; her sister, Betty Laycock of West Palm Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Family will receive friends for Carol's Life Celebration on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Sheldon Reese, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital, P.O. Box 527, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
