Philip David George, 66, of California, MD died December 30, 2013 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Born January 15, 1947 in Quakertown, PA he was the son of the late Wilmer George and Mildred (Landis) George.

Philip graduated from John Brown University in Arkansas with a degree in electrical engineering. He served on a Mennonite mission in Bolivia. Philip worked for the Bureau of Engraving before going to the Department of the Navy in Crystal City, VA. Philip transferred to Patuxent River sixteen years ago, and was employed there until his death. Philip was active in the church choir, Sunday school, community outreach and the men's group at First Saints Community Church, St. Paul's Campus in Leonardtown, MD.

Philip is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Mary E. George; his daughters: June Louise Novotny (Jesse Ridenour) of Leonardtown, MD, Loriann Denise George of Forestville, MD, and Rebecca Eileen George of Great Mills, MD; his grandchildren: Matthew F. Novotny, Jr., Ashley Novotny, Brianna Ridenour, Alyssa Ryan, Gracie Ridenour and Hannah George; and his brothers: John Wesley George of Bethesda, MD, Daniel Wilmer George of Ortanna, PA.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Saints Community Church, St. Paul's Campus, 25550 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 by Pastors John Wunderlich and Ruth Dixon at First Saints Community Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
