Harold "Howie" Eugene Clontz, 82, of King George, VA and formerly of Waldorf, MD passed away on December 6, 2013 at his home, with family by his side. He was born on April 9, 1931 in Greensboro, NC to the late Ivey Augusta Clontz and the late Myrtle Mae (Burkhart) Clontz.

Harold came to Washington, DC in 1950 and worked at Wakefield Dairy before entering the U.S. Army in 1953, where he served in the Korean War. Later he worked at Stewart Petroleum and then moved to Washington Evening Star Newspaper. Harold started working as a mechanic until 1977 when he started his own business Fleet Maintenance & Repair, with his sons, in Clinton, MD. Harold retired at age 62, but the business is still family owned & operating today by second and third generation.

His passions in life were his family (children & grandchildren). Harold loved to ride motorcycles with his wife and friends. He raced motorcycles when he was younger and loved classic cars (restored 1973 mustang convertible) and enjoyed car shows. Harold's other love was airplanes and he enjoyed air shows. He also loved animals and had several dogs.

Harold belonged to the VFW as a lifetime member. He was a proud member of National Capital Motorcycle Club, HOG Chapter in Ft. Washington, MD, and HOG Chapter in Annapolis, MD.

In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his two brothers, Ivey Augusta Clontz, Jr. and Edward Clontz; and his four sisters, Virginia Nowatnick, Margaret Graham, Pauline Ditlow, and Mildred Andrew.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Aurellia (Baker) Clontz; children, Les A. Clontz (Christine), Rick G. Clontz (Tammy), Tina D. Goldsmith (David), Steve L. Clontz (Barbara), and Michael L. Clontz; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold will be missed by his family and many friends.

Family and friends will be received for Harold's Life Celebration on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Service will begin at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. James Chance will officiate. Interment will be private, at a later date, at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland.
