Edward Clyde Lawrence, 82, of Leonardtown, MD, died November 27, 2013 at his residence. Born March 12, 1931 in Avenue, MD. He was the son of the late Clyde Alexander and Kathleen Adele Buckler Lawrence.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by his wife Barbara Cecil Lawrence whom he married on October 2, 1954 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD.

Edward is survived by his children; Susan (Joseph) Dyer , and Sharon (Lloyd) Cox both of Leonardtown, MD, Gregory Lawrence of Upper Marlboro, MD, Nancy (Leon) Smith of Spotsylvania, VA, and John (Erin) Lawrence of Owings, MD, sisters, Catherine (Paul) Ludwig of Leonardtown, MD, and Janice Combs of Hollywood, MD, also survived by 13 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by a son Glenn Lawrence.

Mr. Lawrence was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1948 and from the University of Maryland in 1963 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the National Guard from November 10, 1948 to November 9, 1958. He retired in 1986 after 35 years as an Electrical Engineer from the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, MD.

Edward belonged to the St. Mary's Historical Society, the Lions Club, Friends of St. Clements Island, Potomac River Museum, Calvert Marine Museum, Chesapeake Maritime Museum, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He was an honorary Crew Member of the Pride of Baltimore, and a Master Gardener. He loved history, wood working in his workshop, the history of St. Mary's County work boats, and was an avid gardener.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with prayers recited at 7:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 10:30AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Father David Beaubien, Father John Dakes, and Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Gregory Lawrence, John Lawrence, Joseph Dyer, Lloyd Cox, Leon Smith, and Rolland Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be, Samuel "Bo" Bailey, James Banagan, Robert Kopel, Richard Gass, and Russell Cullins.
