Francis "Buddy" Garner passed away on Thursday November 21st 2013 at Washington Hospital Center. Buddy was born in Faulkner, Maryland on January 26, 1930.

He was the son of the late James Heber and Winifred Murphy Garner. He had 3 brothers that preceded him in death, George, Heber and Harold Brent.

Buddy Garner joined the Army in 1948 and although he got out, he was called back to active service for the Korean War and served overseas. He left the Army in November of 1951.

He married his late wife Roberta "Bobbie" Garner in 1952 and they settled down in Charles County where they were married for 34 happy years.

He became an officer for the Charles County Sheriff's office in 1953 and 5 years later he was elected Sheriff. Buddy was the longest serving Sheriff in county history, serving for 20 years. He was the first person from Charles County to graduate from the FBI Academy in Quantico VA. In addition to his full time job as sheriff and taking care of his family, Buddy also opened and managed the Horseshoe Club. After retiring from the Sheriff's office, Buddy joined Chaney Enterprises in June 1979 and was actively involved with the company until the time of his death. Buddy served as Vice President of The Land Division of Chaney Enterprises for the vast majority of his career with Chaney Enterprises.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bobbie Garner.

He is survived by his four children, Francis Carl Jr. "Butch" and his wife, Patricia, Karen "Tootie" Garner and Thomas Bowling, Larry and his wife, Melissa, and Jeffrey and his wife, Cathy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Brenda Hall, Donna Garner, Amber and Ashlynn Lowe, Ross, Maggie and Tiffanie Garner, and three great-grandchildren Chase and Payton Barncord and Gavin Garner.
