![]() Raymond "Ray" Anthony Dean, Jr., of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on November 15, 2013 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on September 18, 1949 in Washington, DC., he was the loving son of Agatha Theresa Kern Dean and Raymond Anthony Dean, Sr.
Ray was the loving husband of Peggy Jane Dean whom he married on November 24, 1973 in St. Philips Church. Ray is survived by his son Michael Dean, and he was preceded in death by his brother Jeff Dean. Raymond served in the United States Marine Corp from September 1, 1969 to November27, 1970, earning the Vietnam Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnamese Service Campaign medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and National Defense Service medal. In his youth he played the accordion. Ray was a collector of many sorts, which included; cards, old coins, comic books and Stephen King books. He was a collector of stories and had a library of tales, which he shared with people frequently, and were very entertaining. Ray was interested in many forms of art, He created stain glass art; he enjoyed photography, loved music and had a large collection. Ray enjoyed life to the fullest and left wonderful memories for us all. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery Compton, MD.
