Clarence Milton Payne, Jr. 78, of Mechanicsville, MD, peacefully passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD on October 23, 2013. He was born on August 21, 1935 in Woodbridge, VA to the late Clarence Milton Payne, Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Kovacs Thompson.

Clarence worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 37 years. He retired as Print Shop Foreman in 1990.

In his spare time he was a professional photographer, specializing in weddings. He was a DC National Guardsman. Upon retirement, he took up woodworking as a hobby at the home he built with his family. He also enjoyed being a ham radio operator.

He loved spending time with his grandsons and taking them on tractor rides. He was very active in the church, serving as an usher, sound and recording technician and working in the food pantry.

Clarence is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Arlene Shaffer Payne, son, Scott Allan Payne (Tammy), daughters, Stacy Ellen Slovinsky (late Frank Slovinsky), Stanis Payne Inscoe (Donald), grandchildren, Corey Payne, Casey Payne and Garrett Inscoe.

Family will receive friends for Clarence's Life Celebration on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 5-8 pm at Hughesville Baptist Church, 8505 Old Leonardtown Road, Hughesville, MD 20637. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11:00 am at Hughesville Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Cullins officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 22020 Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills, MD 20634.
