Bernardine Marie Theresa Boyd Johnson, 74, of Mechanicsville, MD died on October 21, 2013 at her home. She was born on August 27, 1939 in Washington, DC.

She was the daughter of George Fredrick Washington and Bernardine Elizabeth Burke Boyd. Both preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her brother George Fredrick Boyd and sister Mary Theresa Boyd.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, Aunt, grand aunt and great grand aunt. She enjoyed family, friends, crafting, gardening, especially cutting grass with her putt putt, and animals.

She was a co-founder of the St. Mary's County Patriots Majorette and Drum Corp.; for which she organized several events and activities for the children.

She is survived by her husband Francis Wilmer (Bootsie) Johnson, Sr., daughter; Bernardine Marie Theresa Boyd Johnson, II, Son Francis Wilmer Johnson, Jr., wife Diana; grandson Dillon Banis, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, and great grand niece.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM with prayers recited at 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Father Jerry Gamrot officiating. Pallbearers will be; Francis W. Johnson, Jr., Dillon Banis, John Miedzinski, Michael Hayden, Ellis Hayden, and Paul Burke. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Charles Johnson, Albert Johnson, Robert Johnson, Patrick McGarry, Derek Moore, Zachary Moore, Lucas Moore, David Banis, and Ward Hosteler.
