Florence "Jean" Greer, 83, of Welcome, MD died Oct. 19, 2013 at Genesis La Plata Center. Born January 2, 1930 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Francis Edelen, Sr. and the late Ursula Gwynn Edelen.

She married Carlisle Greer, Jr. in 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church in Clinton, MD.

Mrs. Greer was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was raised in Clinton, MD and attended Notre Dame Academy School. She moved to Charles County in 1946. She loved to garden, sew, and read. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and family. She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Welcome, MD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carlisle Greer, Jr.; brother, Joseph Edelen, Jr.; sisters, Mary Rogers and Marie Bouck.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jody (Frank) Wathen and Jerri Munson; one sister, Gwen Ricci; five grandchildren, Jessica Cooksey, Kristin Greer, Jimmy Cooksey, Thomas Munson, and Michael Munson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646).

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 10AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newport, MD. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Father Mark Irwin will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cooksey, Steve Austin, Alec Edelen, Joey Edelen, Thomas and Rick Wathen.
