Melissa Mae Benton, age 36, of Lusby, MD passed away October 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. She was born November 29, 1976 in Prince Frederick, MD to Craig Allen and Deborah Ann (Grierson) Benton.

She grew up in North Beach and Chesapeake Beach where she was a girl scout and cheerleader for the Beach Buccaneers as well as the T-Ball team. Melissa was a 1994 graduate of Northern High School.

She worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Calvert County. Recently, she was working as a health care aid. Her ambition was to become a nurse. Melissa was always ready to help anyone that had a need.

She was preceded in death by grandparents; Percy Lee Grierson and Sam and Katherine Benton.

Surviving are her parents, Craig and Deborah Benton, children; Brittany Dianne, Dee, and Jaden Marie all of Moorefield, WV; a sister Crystal Benton of Baltimore, MD and grandmother Rita Grierson McDermid and her husband Donald of Chesapeake Beach, MD. She was also loved by her many aunts and uncles.
