Steve Alexander Gatton, Sr., 69 of Hollywood, MD died on October 4, 2013 at his residence. Born May 19, 1944 in Hollywood, MD, he was the son of the late Elmer Marcellus Gatton and Abbie Lorraine Gatton.

Steve is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Gatton whom he married on April 25, 1970 in Chestertown, MD, his children; Steve A. (Chrissy) Gatton, Sr., of California, MD , and Dale Lee (Becky) Gatton of Lusby, MD grandchildren; Steve A. Gatton, III and Jocelyn D Gatton both of California, MD, and Devin Lee Gatton of Lusby, MD, siblings; Judy (Steve) Howard of Hollywood, MD, Diane Whittle of Anderson, IN, Frances Gatton of Hollywood, MD, and JoAnn (Vic) Demko of Hollywood, MD.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his siblings; Elmer Gatton, Jr., Jackie Gatton, and June Gatton.

Steve was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident, he graduated from the Maryland School for the Deaf in 1963, he was an Auto-Body Repair Mechanic he retired in 1994.

Steve enjoyed playing cards with family and watching his "Washington Redskins".

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with prayers recited at 7:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 10:00AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Joy Chapel Cemetery, Hollywood, MD. Pallbearers will be; Steve A. Gatton, Jr., Dale Lee Gatton, Steve A. "Alex" Gatton, III, Jack Gatton, Terry Gatton, Vic Demko, Corey Demko, and Jeff Venendaal. Honorary pallbearers will be; Jocelyn Gatton, Susie Gatton, Devin Lee Gatton, and Jennifer Venedaal.
