Corporal Dmitriy "Dima" Nicholaevich Tanner, 22, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on September 28, 2013 in California. He was born on August 31, 1991 in Ekimovichi, Russia. Dima graduated from Chopticon High School in May of 2009.

Before Dima even graduated high school, he knew he wanted to be a Marine and enlisted at 17 years of age. As Private First Class, he was reassigned to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Edson Range on December 29, 2009, at Camp Pendleton, CA. His personal awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and a Meritorious Mast.

Dima also enjoyed a part time career of modeling for names such as Calvin Klein, Versace and Givenchy. Dima always managed to excel at anything he set his mind to - he was also a very talented artist.

Dima is survived by his parents, James R. "Ray" Tanner and Michaela Tanner; his brother, James Ray Tanner, Jr.; sisters, Theresa L. Smith (Brian) and Diana F. Colomo; and his nieces, Brooke D. Smith and Alyssa K. Smith; his nephews, Ryan A. Colomo, Reece A. Colomo and Reid Colomo.

Family and friends will be received for Dima's Life Celebration on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers beginning at 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Mass on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Woods will officiate. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38888 Dr. Johnson Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.

Pallbearers will be James R. Tanner, Jr., Kevin McDonough, Shawn McDonough, Mike McDonough, Shane McDonough, Sean McDonough, and Brian Smith.
