Robert Vernon Cooksey of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, died on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his residence. He was 74 years old. Born on October 16, 1938 in La Plata, MD, he was the son of the late Grace Cecelia and the late John Frank Cooksey.

Mr. Cooksey was a Postal Carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for 37 years.

He was a member of the La Plata Optimist Club who loved baseball and corn hole. He also enjoyed car racing especially NASCAR and drags, watching football, hunting and fishing. Mr. Cooksey was an animal lover and a friend to all.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Wise Cooksey.

He is survived by his sons Robert D. Cooksey and his wife Leigh, David A. Cooksey and his wife Veronica, Daniel L. Cooksey and his wife Michelle and Gary W. Cooksey; his sisters Kitty Michael, Diana McClure and Judy Hamilton; his brother John Cooksey; and his nine grandchildren.

Visitation on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 5PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Service on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 beginning at 11AM at the Raymond Funeral Service. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Maryland.
