On Saturday, September 14, 2013, Kimberly passed away peacefully at her home in Charlotte Hall, MD. Kimberly leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her parents, Frank and Kathleen Stoppa; her husband, Wallace "Pie" Dent; her daughters, Breanna and Alayna Dent; two grandsons, Damon and Ethan; her sisters, Christine Rathbone and husband John, Carla Kirby and husband Kevin, and Frankie Stoppa; her brothers-in-law, Derrick Dent and wife Karen, and Ganzie Dent; and her mother-in-law, Amelia A. Dent. She is also survived by a host of family and friends.

Kimberly was employed as a teacher in Charles County for 16 years. After completing student teaching at Thomas Stone High School, she taught social studies at Maurice McDonough High School, followed by 13 years at Westlake High School in Waldorf, MD. She served as the Social Studies Department Chair, Student Service Learning Coordinator, and was awarded Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2008.

Kimberly was very involved with her students outside of the classroom as well, serving as a long-time sponsor of the Future Educators of America (FEA) and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) organizations, sponsor of the Class of 2003, and Mock Trial and Debate Team coach. Kimberly was also the coordinator and varsity head coach of the Westlake Cheerleading Squad from 1999 until her early retirement in 2012.

Friends will be received on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 5-8PM and also on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 9AM until time of Funeral Service at 10AM at New Life Wesleyan Church, 9690 Shepherd's Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment to follow at Wesleyan Memorial Cemetery.
