Lillian Louise Holmes, 73, of Hughesville, MD, formerly of Morningside, MD, passed away on September 3, 2013 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD. She was born on September 11, 1939 in Washington, DC to the late Lawrence Thompson and the late Elizabeth Whalen.

She graduated from St. Anthony High School in Washington, DC in 1957. Lil married Frank Holmes on May 18,1963, where they formed a family and had three children. She worked for the C&P Telephone Company until she retired. She also enjoyed going bowling, playing bingo, cooking for her family, driving to get her scratch-offs and watching the Ravens with her grandsons.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband, Frank P. Holmes, her sisters, Mary Ann Brady and Bridget Murphy.

She is survived by her children, Janet Szabo , Michelle Simpkins, Stephen Holmes, grandchildren, Ricky Szabo, Jr. and Ryan Szabo, son-in-laws Rick Szabo and Keith Simpkins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 7:00 PM with Pastor Dave Hufman officiating.
