Kay Yachiyo Young, 83, of Satellite Breach FL, formerly of California, MD passed away at home on August 31, 2013 after a long illness. She was born March 2, 1930 at Saga Ken, Japan to Kimayo and Gisaku Shigeta.

Kay met the love of her life, Robert A. Young in 1952 during the Korean War. They were married in 1955.

She is survived by husband, Robert, daughter, Catherine (Gary), son, Robert Jr. (Kate), 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by a son, Mark.

Kay was a homemaker with a special talent for cooking. She was a creative gardener, planting beautiful flowers and luscious fruits and vegetables. Kay has handcrafted many beautiful quilts in her lifetime, presenting them to friends and family on special occasions.

Kay is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 22375 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Lexington Park, MD.
