Charles W. Moxley Sr. of Arnold, MD, husband of Lillian Betty Moxley (deceased), and father of Pamela Ann Mosher (deceased), passed away at his home after a battle with cancer on January 10, 2008 at the age of 86.
Charles was born on August 11, 1921, the son of Arthur Thomas Moxley and Margaret H. Wilson Moxley (both deceased). Charles was a graduate of St. Paul's High School in Baltimore, MD where he was a basketball and lacrosse superstar. He served his country overseas as an Army Staff Sergeant during WW II and was honorably discharged on December 4, 1945. He retired from the telephone company at the age of 59, started his own business and managed the Moxleyville Boat Yard until his death. His favorite activities were discussing politics, golf, and horse racing. Mr. Moxley was an excellent Bible student and teacher, attending services at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship Church in Davidsonville, Md., and a loyal "friend of Bill W." for over 50 years. He is survived by his older brother Arthur Wilson Moxley; son, Charles W. Moxley Jr., daughter, Nancy Jean Hobbs, all of Arnold, MD. Charles has four grandchildren; Kelli Ann Geppi, Bernard Brooks Thompson, Lisa Marie McDonald, and JoAnna Lee Struss, as well as five great grandchildren; Caleb William Moxley, Scott Joseph Geppi, David William Geppi, Judah Alexander Struss, and Mayah Lee Struss. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 16th at Middleton Hall. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 17th at Middleton Hall, 4045 Renner Road, Waldorf, MD 20601. Pallbearers include grandson Brooks Thompson, son-in-law Joe Mosher, grandsons-in-law Kevin Geppi, Jeff Struss & Carl McDonald; close friends, Gene Routt, Mark Gotjen, and Bob Kelly Honorary Pallbearers include Kelli Geppi, JoAnna Struss and Lisa Moxley. Sr. Pastor Paul Goodwin, Calvary Chapel of Waldorf, will officiate the memorial services. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a nice lunch and time of sharing immediately after the memorial service.
