Vivian Thomason Sharpe of Mechanicsville, MD died on August 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospice House in Callaway, MD. She was 95 years old.

Vivian was a self-employed seamstress. She was born in Nashville, TN on June 20, 1918. Her father was a Naval officer and her early years were spent in Honolulu, Salt Lake City, Key West, and Portsmouth, VA where he was stationed.

After his retirement, the family settled in New Orleans. There she met and married Vola Lee Sharpe. Subsequently, they lived in Montgomery, AL and eventually settled in Memphis, TN where they resided for more than 50 years. They moved to Waldorf in 1998 to live with their daughter, Charlotte.

Vivian was an avid bridge player, often playing several days a week in Waldorf and St. Mary's County. She was an expert in the identification of minerals and gemstones and was experienced at creating various types of jewelry. Vivian was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Charles County Antique Arts Association, Catholic Daughters Court St. Peter, and the Port Tobacco Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is the daughter of the late Hugh Thomason and the late Frances Lipps Thomason. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vola Lee Sharpe and daughter, Charlotte Sharpe Moffatt.

She is survived by four grandchildren: Kristin Lee Hoback and husband Mark, Kara Lynn Bush and husband David, Kevin Lyle Moffatt and wife Lisa, Kyle Louis Moffatt and wife Rebecca, and 13 great grandchildren.

Friends received on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Waldorf, MD. Interment will be private.
