Smiley Charles Bowen Swann, 61, of Lusby, MD passed away on August 4, 2013 at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD.

He was born on November 13, 1951 in La Plata, MD, son of the late Charles Bowen Swann and the late Nancy Patricia (Gardiner) Swann.

Smiley enjoyed being around people, sharing in their lives and helping out whenever he was needed. A dedicated pet owner, Smiley loved all his dogs, especially his "little girl" Luna, a pug. Smiley enjoyed watching movies; his favorite actress was Marilyn Monroe, and he liked old cars, especially Cadillac's and Buicks. At an early age Smiley worked at a family-owned Mobil Station in Waldorf, MD. Later, Smiley worked as a salesman, and before his retirement he was a caregiver for individuals with disabilities as well as an employee of Hospice of Calvert County.

Smiley is survived by his partner, John P. Crampton of Lusby, MD; two brothers, William Francis Swann and Frederick Joseph Swann (wife, Kim); one sister, Patricia Ann Swann; and many other relatives and friends.

Family and friends will be received to celebrate Smiley's life on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a funeral service on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow to Southern Memorial Gardens, 10155 Ward Road, Dunkirk, MD 20754.
