Barbara A. (Yates) Livingston, 79, of La Plata, MD, died on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at the Hospice of Charles County. Her family is blessed to have had 8 wonderful years with her following her diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

A native Washingtonian, she was the daughter of the late Rena and Holland Yates.

She is survived by her loving husband, William G. (Reds) Livingston. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2012, having met and fallen in love when he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base.

Barbara loved being a mother and grandmother to her four children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is the beloved mother of Deborah Sharpe (Frank), Donna King, Michael Livingston (Pam), and Diane Oliver (Terry), devoted grandmother to Kristen Midgett, Kimberly Livingston, Emily and Matthew King, Pamela and Amy Oliver, and Katherine and Natalie Sharpe, and great-grandmother to Ryan Ball, Elijah Larsen and Charlotte Midgett. She is survived by two sisters, Peggy Redding and Nancy Stowers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 9 at La Plata United Methodist Church, 3 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, MD 20646. Internment private at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
