![]() Albert Edward Gertz, 86, of Lusby, MD passed away on July 29, 2013 in Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD. He was born on October 26, 1926 in Carnegie, PA to the late Joseph John Gertz and Eleanor Cathleen Eger Gertz.
He was the loving husband to the late Thelma Grimm Gertz whom he married on January 20, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a Supervisor of Computer Operations for the Department of Justice. Albert served his country during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the United States Navy. During his service he was stationed at USNTC Sampson, NY, and on board the USS Puget Sound and the USS Bougainville. While serving his country he received the Victory Medal, Atlantic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. He is survived by his daughter Dorothy A. Rocks and her husband Steve of Lusby, MD; son Jeffrey Gertz of Rockville, MD; grandchildren Terry, Christopher and Dorothy Gertz and his sister Rita Tokarczyk of Carnegie, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Grimm Gertz who passed away on September 1, 2006; sisters Mary Renshaw and Gertrude Staab and his brother Joseph S. Gertz. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 4, from 2-6 PM in the Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, August 5, at 9:30 AM with Monsignor Michael Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD at 2:00 PM.
