Charles Sherman Crist, 81, of Waldorf, MD, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2013 at Hospice House of Charles County. He was a loving Christian husband, son, father, brother, friend and a mentor to many who is now at peace with his Lord.

Born February 3, 1932 in Lexington, VA, he was the son of Abraham Young Crist and Nellie Elizabeth Smith Crist. He moved to Washington, DC and then to Clinton,, MD where he met the love of his life, Cora E. Lane. On February 26, 1953 they married and have been constant friends and companions for more than 60 years.

He was the owner of Crist Products Enterprise until he became ill in 1987 and was unable to continue his business. Charles was a lover of sports, especially Little League and Church sports where he coached baseball, softball and basketball. A spiritual leader and lover of the Lord, he was an active member of Gideons International and an active member of the Hughesville Baptist Church. He served on many committees and boards of the organizations.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Ruley.

He is survived by his wife Cora and loving son Charles Richard "Chuck" Crist; brother, A. Brooke Crist and wife Martha; nephew, Justin Crist and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends for Charles' Life Celebration on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 2 - 4p.m. and 6 - 8p.m. at the Hughesville Baptist Church, 8505 Old Leonardtown Rd., Hughesville, MD 20637. A service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Hughesville Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin Cullins and Rev. Keith Corrick will officiate. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Rd., Waldorf, MD 20601.
