William Augustus "Doc" Savoy, Jr. of Indian Head, MD died on July 11, 2013 at University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD. He was 71 years old.

Doc was a truck driver for 37 years with Seven Star Aggregate and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD. He was also a member of Local 639 Teamsters Union and an enrolled member of Piscataway Conoy Tribe.

He was an avid drag racing fan and auto mechanic as well as a good story teller and jokester. He never met a stranger.

He is the son of the late William Augustus Savoy Sr. and the living Mary Gertrude Swann Savoy. He is also predeceased by two brothers, James W. Savoy and Walter T. Savoy and one sister, Judy Savoy.

He is survived by his mother; his wife of 50 years, Mervin Savoy; three sons, Bart Savoy, Traver Savoy, and Steffan Savoy and his wife Beth; two daughters, Dawn Dyette and her husband Norman and Jennifer Findley and her husband John; one brother, Charles "Rusty" Savoy; one sister, Joan Watson; and 10 grandchildren: Brandon, Ashley, Trey, J.C., Arich, Karrah, C.J., Bayleigh, Samantha, and Miko.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 9-11AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 12PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, MD 20675 with Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
