Marian Elsie (Pocock) Whitcomb, 92, of Solomons passed away at Asbury Health Care Center on January 10, 2008.

She was born on August 24, 1915, in Birmingham, United Kingdom to the late William & Augusta Pocock. She was married to the late McLean F. Whitcomb.

She is survived by her children Robert F. Whitcomb and wife Ann of Annapolis, Md., Wendy Sparrow and husband Allen of Alexandria, Va., 2 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Marian grew up in England and was a nurse in World War II. She raised her family in Bethesda, Md. for 20 years and then resided in Neavitt, Md. for 30 years before moving to Solomons, Md. Marian was known for her artistic paintings and also her love for writing poetry. She belonged to the Garden Club and Art Club at Asbury Solomons.

A Memorial Service will be offered January 18, 2008 at 1:30PM at Asbury Solomons Auditorium with Pastor Randy Casto officiating.
