Mr. John C. Shea, Jr., 72, of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 at University of Maryland Medical Center. He was born and raised in Washington, DC, the son of John C. Shea and Mildred Shea Davis. He was a graduate of Anacostia High School Class of 1959.

Mr. Shea served seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Company 3dBn, 1st ITR NCB, Camp Lejsune, NC. He retired in Waldorf, MD after 38 years with Washington Gas Light Co.

He was a member of the Greater Waldorf Jaycees, Elk Lodge #2421, and Quarter Century Club at Washington Gas Light Co. He enjoyed his retirement with his family at home, vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC, and continuing to work, most recently as a security officer at College of Southern Maryland.

Mr. Shea is survived by his wife of 30 years, Myra Rawlings Shea, nine children, and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shea will have a visitation on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 10AM until his service at 12PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Following his service he will be laid to rest at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
