Shirley Mae Holt, 66 of Mechanicsville, MD died on December 16, 2007 at her residence.

Born March 16, 1941 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Camilus and Annie Ruth Simmons. Mrs. Holt was retired bus driver with 30 years in busing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed raising her family, playing softball, kickball and volleyball. She loved the Redskins, gardening, flowers and her yellow lab Peaches.

Shirley is survived by her husband; George Melvin Holt, children; Donald W. Holt, (Jennifer), DeAnne E. Holt, Darin C. Holt, (Kim) and Dennis A. Holt. Siblings; George C. Simmons, Joyce Proctor, Bobby Simmons, Ann Finley and Jeanne Simmons and 8 grandchildren, in addition to her parents Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her sister Bette McNey.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 for her Life Celebration in the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, Charlotte Hall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 10:30AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD. Interment will follow in the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Mechanicsville, MD. Pallbearers will be; Darin Holt, Dennis Holt, Mark Taylor, Greg Finley, Klee Simmons and Jimmy Hamor. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Holt, Ray Finley, Robey Atkinson, Jr. and Billy Hamor.
